Well every year in February the company I work for does reviews. Well today I had mine. Over all it was a pretty good review. Of course there is always room for improvement and there were a few areas that were discussed. But my hard work ethic is very appreciated and my boss made sure I knew that. I was also surprised to find out that I was getting a 3% raise. Last year was a decent year but this year hasn’t started out to swell.
Catching Up…
Well for those who may have though I fell off the face of the earth, you can rest easy. The last two weeks were spent getting back to real life after my vacation. Having to get back into work and school wasn’t fun. I miss being on vacation. But now I think I am back into my everyday life and will hopefully be around here more. I think I am going to take a few pages from my brother Scott’s blog and post more about the music I am listening to and books that I may get to read. I will try to help make this a more interesting site for people to visit.
Sad News…
Well I got some sad news this morning before I left for work. The Detroit Red Wings traded my favorite player, Jason Williams, to the Chicago Blackhawks. I guess I will have to keep track of three teams… the wings, the blackhawks and the thrashers. But I hope that Jason will be able to have a good career in Chicago. He is one that I will follow no matter where he ends up.
School…
I have been in my marketing class for a few weeks now and I have to say that I really like the class. And I am doing pretty well in the class. We had a test a few weeks ago and I got 49 out of 50 and got 30 out of 30 on a take home test. This class has really made we want to do more in advertising or marketing.
This Weekend…
My friend, Cris, was in town for the weekend. She helped me get some stuff done. I had a few projects that I needed help with. Now I have a bunch of lists that I have to get into the computer and then try to keep them updated so it doesn’t get this bad again. Thank you for your help Cris.
Favorite Color…
For those that don’t know my favorite color is orange. I am chatting with Cris right now and she just sent me some info about my favorite color. I thought this was kind of interesting and though I would share it.
Did you know that when you like the color Orange what it represents: OK, orange is not exactly the easiest color to wear and it’s not the most common favorite color, but guess what? Orange is as sexy as it gets. Orange is a mellowed red—and it takes primal, lusty urges and mellows them with a softer vibe. Orange is the color of early attractions, emotional responses, and inner magnetism. Oh, and one other thing: Orange is also close to gold, the color of success and wealth. Understanding people who love it: Someone who likes orange is alive with feelings, the ability to nurture, and can intuit a path to success. If your favorite color is orange, you don’t have an “off” switch when it comes to passion. This is all good stuff, but there’s nothing casual about the connections this kind of person usually forges.

Saturday…
Well after sleeping in a little, Brian and I got up and headed out for the morning. I had pretty much packed up everything Friday night. We headed out for a quick breakfast and then we drove to the airport. Brian helped me get my bags checked and walked to me security. That is where we said goodbye. It was tough having to leave but I knew that I would be getting home to Abby. This was a really great trip. I had a lot of fun and got to see a lot of Georgia. I will definitely be headed back there soon. I want to thank Brian again for letting me stay with him and using his van. I truly had a great time and it was nice to spend that time with my brother.
My flight back home was about the same as the one there… kind of bumpy at times, but nothing to rough. My flight landed early and I got my bags and had to wait a few minutes for mom and dad to get me. I was standing out side in the cold and wished I had been able to bring some of the warmer weather back with me.
Sunday…
Today I am just chilling out and working on a few things before having to get back to real life tomorrow with work and school on Tuesday.
Today, my last full day in Georgia :(, was a pretty relaxing and fun day. After going with Brian to drop him off at work I came back to the apartment and slept for a little bit. Then I got up and got ready for the day. Brian was leaving work early so we could do something on my last full day here. We ended up going to the CNN studio and taking their tour. It was really pretty cool. We got to see the news room and got to watch a live news report. I would recommend the tour to anyone that may end up in the Atlanta area. After the tour we headed out of the downtown area as fast as we could. The traffic in Georgia is very very very bad. We decided to head to the area of the hockey arena that we were going to. We had a nice dinner and then headed to the game. The game was pretty good. The first period was kind of slow, though both teams did score. Then the game picked up and turned out to be a good game. We got to see a penalty shot. The home team ended up winning 4 to 2. And I came to find out that a player on the Gwinnett Gladiators used to play for Michigan State (he ended up with a hat trick for the game). So I got to see two former MSU players play some good hockey this week.
Well tomorrow I will be heading back to cold Michigan. I will have a few hours here before heading to the airport. I already can’t wait until I will be able to plan a trip back here. I really had a lot of fun hanging out with my brother. I am very glad that he let me come out here and invade his life for a week.
Today was a very relaxing day. After going to work with Brian in the morning to drop him off I came back to the apartment and slept until 10:00. It was nice sleeping in. Then I just headed to a few stores around the area and then just spent the rest of the afternoon chilling and doing stuff on the computer. I ended up going later to pick Brian up from work but then he took me on a tour of the shop. It looks like he really has help out to get that place organized. Then we headed to a place called the Atlantic Station. This was a really cool area. It is like an outdoor mall. There are a lot of cool stores and a lot of nice restaurants there. We ate at the Califorina Pizza Kitchen. Man was that good… Brian got a chicken club pizza and I had their white pizza. Both were very yummy. Then we walked around the stores and then headed to the IKEA that wasn’t too far away. There are also some very cool looking apartments and townhomes in this area. It looks like a very hip place to live.
Tomorrow Brian and I are going to another hockey game… The Gwinnett Gladiators. It should be pretty fun. We have pretty good seats for the game. Well I think that is all for tonight.
Tuesday…
I went to a shopping center called Discover Mills. For those that are familiar with Great Lakes Crossing, this place was a lot like that. There were some pretty cool stores there. I got a few things while there. Later in the day I went and picked Brian up from work and we headed to the Thrashers game. We had seats that were pretty far up but that was OK. I still got to see my guy, Jim Slater, play in a NHL game. The arena is pretty cool. You can tell that it is a pretty new arena. The Thrashers lost in a shoot-out but it was still a good game. And it was pretty exciting seeing a shoot-out in person. It does add something to the game when you are there.
Wednesday…
Today I went to the Mall of Georgia. This reminded me a lot of Somerset Mall in Michigan. It was a very nice mall with some pretty nice stores. And it was a nice day to be out driving around. I hate to brag to those that are still in a deep freeze but it was close to 60 degrees here with a clear and sunny sky. I spent much of the day in just my T-shirt with no sweatshirt. I picked Brian up later in the day and then when we got back to the apartment I cooked dinner and Brian worked on some of his homework. We spent the night just relaxing and watching some TV. Brian is a pretty big fan of Lost and was very excited that the season was restarting, so we watched that.
Well I am not sure what I will be doing tomorrow… maybe a little more shopping. I think there may be a few stores I haven’t stopped in yet!
Today was a pretty relaxing day. Got up early with Brian so he could drive to work and I could have his van for the day. After getting back from his work I watched some TV and then headed out for a little bit. I went to a few stores and then hit a mall that is pretty close to the apartment. It was a pretty nice mall. It was laid out a little oddly but very nice. When I had gotten to the mall and was driving around the parking lot I noticed a Sonic burger place. I had been wanting to go to one so after shopping I stopped in and got a burger, fries and a smoothie. It ware pretty good. After that I headed back to the apartment to just chill out the rest of the day.
Tomorrow Brian and I are going to a Thrashers hockey game. I am very excited about seeing the game and a new arena.
Well today was pretty good day. After getting up and getting ready Brian and I headed out for the day. We drove up to the mountain in north Georgia. It was probably in the thirties up there…still some snow on the ground. We went to a city by the name of Helen, GA. There is a small Bavarian village there (somewhat similar to Frankenmuth) and we walked thru some of the stores there. One part of the village was closed due to the season. Then we headed to Cleveland, GA, which is the home of the Cabbage Patch Kids. They have a place set up that they call Babyland General Hospital. It was kind of corny but pretty funny too. You get to watch a cabbage patch kid being born. After leaving there we headed back toward the apartment… stopping at a Super Wal-Mart to get some food for the week. Once we got back home Brian had some home work to do and I watched some TV. Then Brian cooked dinner and we got ready to watch the super bowl. We also were keeping an eye on the puppy bowl and animal planet. Watching it did make me miss my puppy though.
Well tomorrow I will be driving Brian to work and probably heading back to the apartment to finish sleeping. Then I will probably head out to do some shopping. Brian had a GSP unit so I shouldn’t get too lost. That and Brian has shown me where most of the shopping areas are.
Well I made it to Georgia. The flight wasn’t too bad. We hit a little turbulence but it just felt like we were driving on Michigan road. And my flight was pretty much on time.
After landing and riding the tram to baggage claim, I found Brian and we got my bags and headed off. We wonder around downtown Atlanta for a little bit. We walked thru Centennial Park (where the Olympics were in 1996) and then walked over to the Hard Rock Café where we had lunch. Then we headed to the Coca Cola factory and too the self guided tour. It wasn’t too bad (much smaller than we thought). The one cool thing was they had an area set up where you could sample different Coke drinks from around the world. We found a few good ones and some that we couldn’t believe they put in bottles and people drink it. After the tour we went to a place called Atlanta Underground which is a shopping place that is under the subway. It was kind of cool…a lot of street vendors. We then headed to Brian’s apartment and chilled out for a little bit. We decided to use the evening to go see a comedy show, which turned out to be pretty funny.
Tomorrow we are going to be doing some hiking on some mountains that someone that works with Brian had told him about. There are suppose to be some really cool waterfalls and I am hoping to get some good pictures.
Well it has been a very eventful day and I am going to call it a day and get some sleep. I will post more tomorrow.
Well this week has been a crazy week. Work was crazy; I had school on Tuesday and have been getting ready for my trip tomorrow. I also had to take a test on Thursday that my teacher is giving the rest of the class next week. I will be leaving tomorrow morning to head down to Georgia to visit my brother Brian. I am flying down there and am a little nervous about it. The last time I flew was about 9 years ago and I was with my parents… this time it will be a solo trip. But I am looking forward to my vacation. Brian and I have a few things plan which includes two hockey games. We are going to be going to an Atlanta Thrashers game… one of their players, Jim Slater, use to play for MSU and I have been following his pro career these last few years. I will try to post while on my trip but I cannot promise. If I don’t get to do any posting while on vacation, I will summarize my trip when I get back.
